Setting Fade In & Out

This help file explains how to configure the Fade In & Out option in the Fade & Silence tab under the Setting Audio Options window, accessible from the menu bar (when available).

This setting defines the percentage (%) of audio samples used to apply fade-in (after the initial silence) and fade-out (before the final silence) for each audio file loaded into memory prior to playback.

Applying fade-in and fade-out helps eliminate clicking sounds during playback by smoothing the start and end of each audio file. This setting remains saved for future sessions unless modified again.

Procedure

This setting can be adjusted at any time. If changed during playback, the effect is applied immediately.

Note: Increasing the number of fade samples may slightly reduce the clarity of the audio, while using too few samples may increase clicking noise. For reference, there are 44,100 samples in one second of monaural audio.

  1. To set the fade sample percentage, click and drag the slider knob to the desired position, then release the mouse button. The updated value will appear next to the label, for example: Now: 15.
  2. Repeat the step above with different values to experiment and find the most suitable setting for your needs.
