Capture Screenshot

This is the help file for the Capture Screenshot option.

To use this feature, choose Utility on the top menu bar, then select Capture Screenshot to display the window shown below.

Notes

  1. All external windows, including desktop, folders, web pages, and applications can be captured.
  2. Certain modal windows such as file open windows, save dialogs and menus cannot be captured because they block interaction with any other window.

Procedure

  1. Choose a format:
    Format:
    GIF
    JPG
    PNG

  2. Under the Window section, click to select the screen to be captured and saved.
    If the window is not listed, open it first, then click the Refresh button to update the list.
  3. All windows: To capture all Yuhalu windows.
  4. External windows: To capture external windows only (not Yuhalu).
  5. To capture menus and submenus while the capture window is active, open the menu to be captured and press the F8 key.
  6. Output File: Click to choose the output file name. Do not include the file extension because it is already determined by the selected format.
  7. Capture: Arrange all windows the way you want them to appear, then click this button to capture the screenshot.
  8. While this window remains open, you may switch to any other screen or menu and capture again as needed.
  9. Help: Show this help file.

Supported File Formats

The table below shows the advantages and disadvantages of each format.

File Formats
Format Advantage Disadvantage
GIF Supports simple animation and transparency. Limited to 256 colors; does not support translucency.
JPG Excellent for photographic images. Lossy compression; not recommended for screenshots or text.
PNG High-quality lossless format; supports translucency. Does not support animation.
