Find & Replace

This help file is for Find & Replace window where words can be searched and replaced with new ones.
When all replacing options are grayed out or inactive on this screen, they mean as described below:
  1. On the Main tab, when the Lock Document checkbox on the text toolbar is checked, and it means that the document is read only so data entry are not allowed.
  2. They are always grayed out because no data entry are allowed on the Picture tab.
  3. They are alway active when the Lock Document checkbox is unchecked, and while using the Catatalog Editor.

To use this option, click the button when avaible. Refer to picture below.



Each of the following describes what each one does:

Field Descriptions
Name Function
Find what Enter word to find or search.
Replace with Enter word to replace with word entered in Find what field.

Checkbox Descriptions
Name Function
Match whole word Check to match the whole word. When unchecked, the word entered in either upper or lower case and some characters contained in a word will be found, example: If "tswv" is entered to Find what field, all words contain "tswv" will be found such as tug "tswv" teb, and '"tswvYim" in the document.
Prompt (Replace All) When checked, it will prompt the user to answer Yes to replace or No to cancel after clicking button.

Button Descriptions
Name Function
Find all words matched the word entered in the Find what field and based on the condition of the checkbox Match whole word. Note the Match found message displayed on the bottom.
Highlight the next word found by the button, and it wraps around to the first one after reaching the last word.
Highlight the previous word found by the button, and it wraps around to the last one after reaching the first word.
Highlight all words found by the button.
When active, the word entered in the Find what field is replaced with the one entered in the Replace with field. Note: The word to be replaced is highlighted.
When active, all found words are replaced. If the checkbox Prompt (Replace All) is checked, it will prompt before replacing; otherwise, there is no prompt.

Notes:
  1. To replace the next word, click button, then button.
  2. To replace previous word, click button, then button.
  3. To recover all changes on the document, keep clicking the button Undo option on the main menu bar until satisfied.
